Suspect Charged in Almeda Road Crash Resulting in Infant’s Death

HOUSTON, TX (Dec. 19, 2023) – A suspect has been charged in connection with a fatal crash that resulted in the death of an infant at 12300 Almeda Road around 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Charles A. Washington, faces manslaughter and an additional charge of attempting to take a weapon from a police officer. The charges were filed in the 263rd State District Court.

The incident involved an Infiniti SUV and at least two other vehicles. The infant, a nine-month-old male whose identity is pending verification, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Two other juvenile passengers in the SUV were also hospitalized with injuries.

Washington, who was reportedly aggressive during his arrest, was hospitalized for evaluation before being booked into the Harris County Jail. Further investigations are ongoing.
