Firefighter Injured in Mobile Home Fire on Howards Way, Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS – At approximately 4:30 pm, Caney Creek Fire Department responded to a reported mobile home fire located on Howards Way, just off Tommy Smith Road. Upon arrival, the first responding units encountered heavy fire conditions.
During the firefighting efforts, a tragic discovery was made. One firefighter, while searching the structure, found a Pit Bull. In the process of carrying the animal out, the firefighter fell and sustained injuries. Unfortunately, it was later determined that the dog was already deceased.
The injured firefighter was promptly transported to HCA Conroe Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Caney Creek Fire Department received assistance from Porter and East Montgomery County Fire Departments in battling the blaze.
The homeowner was informed of the fire at her place of employment by a neighbor. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office has initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire. The mobile home was declared a total loss following the incident.
