Fatal Accident on F.M. 2978 in Harris County Involving Chevrolet Equinox and Tractor Trailer

Harris County, TX – On Thursday, December 14, 2023, a major traffic accident occurred on the 25000 block of F.M. 2978, prompting a response from the Harris County Sheriff’s District 1 Patrol Bureau. Upon arrival, units discovered a black Chevrolet Equinox in the northbound lanes with significant damage, including a missing roof panel.

Tomball Fire and EMS were called to the scene to provide first aid. The driver, front seat passenger, and a passenger in the second row were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands with non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, a passenger in the second row’s right seat was found deceased inside the Equinox due to the trauma sustained in the crash.

Investigation revealed that the Equinox had collided with the rear end of a tractor trailer’s load, which was parked in a driveway at 25234 F.M. 2978. The truck, carrying steel beams that overhung the trailer, was crossing the northbound lanes from the center turn lane of F.M. 2978 when the accident occurred.
