Fatal Shooting on 26th Street in Galveston Leaves One Man Dead

GALVESTON, TEXAS – On the morning of Friday, November 17, 2023, a tragic incident occurred on 26th Street in Galveston, where a man was shot and fatally wounded. The Galveston Police Department received a call at 8:20 AM about a shooting at the intersection of 26th Street and Avenue L.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man lying in the road, gravely injured. The victim was immediately transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, where he succumbed to gunshot wounds to the chest.

At the scene, investigators observed and collected various items scattered on the road. However, the nature of these items has not been confirmed.

Sergeant Derek Gaspard of the Galveston Police Department stated that while no suspects are currently in custody, the department plans to release information regarding a “vehicle of interest” later in the afternoon. This vehicle was identified in footage captured by a nearby camera. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting.
