Impatient Driver Causes Fatal Incident Involving USPS Carrier on Northside Houston Street
HOUSTON, Texas, Sept. 30, 2023 – A U.S. Postal Service (USPS) driver died after an incident caused by an impatient driver of a 2011 white Ford Expedition on the 200 block of Julia Street on the northside of Houston, according to Houston Police Department (HPD) authorities.
The impatient driver reportedly forced the USPS vehicle into a ditch, causing the mail truck to fall onto the postal carrier, trapping him underneath. Residents who witnessed the event rushed to the driver’s aid, lifting the truck off of him and attempting to provide first aid. Despite these efforts, the USPS driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD officials stated they have secured witnesses to the incident, obtained a license plate number, and have identified the driver of the white Ford Expedition. Investigations are ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. Authorities are encouraging any additional witnesses to come forward.
The name of the deceased USPS driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Further details will be made available as the investigation progresses.
