Late-Night Motorcycle-SUV Crash Leaves Two in Critical Condition; Intersection Closed for Investigation
SEABROOK, Texas — A late-night collision between a motorcycle and an SUV resulted in the closure of the intersection of State Highway 146 at Repsdorph for several hours into the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023. The crash occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023.
Police reported that the motorcycle, which was headed southbound on State Highway 146, had a green light when an SUV going west ran a red light and entered the intersection. The motorcycle broadsided the SUV, ejecting both riders. A 38-year-old man and woman were subsequently taken to UTMB Health’s Clear Lake emergency center and are reported to be in critical condition.
Four occupants of the SUV were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Seabrook Police Department officers, aided by the Crash Reconstruction Team of the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable Office, are leading the ongoing investigation. No citations have been reported at this time.
In a written release, the Seabrook Police Department emphasized the importance of obeying traffic signals and signs, stating, “This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential consequences that can result from failing to adhere to traffic regulations.”
