$20 Million Sikorsky S-92 Helicopter Lodged Under Louisiana Overpass, Hydraulic Fluid Spilled
A Sikorsky S-92 helicopter became lodged underneath an overpass in Louisiana today after its main rotor head struck a concrete pillar. The impact dislodged the helicopter from its flatbed carrier and resulted in a spill of hydraulic fluid across the area. The aircraft, valued at $20 million, was either en route to the Gulf of Mexico for oil rig operations or in the process of being sold.
The driver of the semi-truck transporting the helicopter received a ticket for careless operation. The Department of Transportation inspected the overpass and confirmed that no significant damage was inflicted. The incident was captured on camera by WBRZ TV.
