Motorist Seriously Injured in Galveston After Collision With Police Car Responding to Emergency Call

GALVESTON, Texas, Sept. 21, 2023 – A motorist was seriously injured after being struck by a police vehicle responding to a call about a man with a gun making threats. The accident took place late Wednesday night on Sept. 20, 2023, at the intersection of Broadway and 14th Street.

The unidentified driver sustained “some serious injuries,” according to Watch Commander Lt. Jeff Banks of the Galveston Police Department.

Lt. Banks confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway. The review will include footage from cameras mounted on both the responding officer and the police vehicle. As of now, it remains uncertain whether the police car had activated its lights and sirens at the time of the collision.
