Lancaster Authorities Respond to Emergency at Antelope Valley Medical Center

LANCASTER, CA, September 19, 2023 – A situation escalated at the Antelope Valley Medical Center located at 15th St W and Ave J, requiring immediate response from several law enforcement units.

Radio traffic noted a deputy asking for multiple units to respond code 3, which denotes the use of lights and sirens, to handle several uncooperative family members. The family members engaged in a confrontation with the deputies on the scene, which led to a physical altercation.

Two deputies have been reported injured in the ongoing altercation. A sergeant, along with three additional units from Palmdale, have been requested to join the current force handling the situation. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is also responding code 3 to provide assistance.

The fire department, initially staging, is now present at the site to offer necessary support and attend to the injuries incurred during the incident. The current crisis is related to a shooting that previously occurred on Sierra Highway.
