Fatal Mobile Home Fire Under Investigation in Houston

HOUSTON, TEXAS, September 19, 2023 – A tragic incident unfolded early today at a mobile home located in the 5700 block of Yale St., where a fire claimed the life of an adult male resident and a dog.

The Houston Fire Department reported that they received a call at 2:35 a.m. on September 19, 2023. Firefighters from several stations swiftly arrived at the scene within five minutes, faced with a fully engulfed porch that hindered the only exit point of the small mobile travel trailer.

Despite the rapid response and offensive strategy employed to combat the fire, the resident and his pet were unable to be rescued alive. Upon entering the home, first responders discovered the individual alongside the deceased dog.

The fire resulted in substantial damage to the property, with early estimates totaling around $75,000. The precise details of any property saved are not available at this moment.

A total of 33 personnel were dispatched to manage the incident, including firefighters from Stations 31, 34, 15, 58, 67, and 30. After the fire was fully extinguished, HFD Arson investigators were summoned to ascertain the cause and origin of the fire, a task that remains ongoing.

In addition to the fire department’s arson unit, the medical examiner and the Houston Police Department have been called to aid in the investigation and to collaborate in compiling a comprehensive report of the tragic event.
