PCT 2 Deputies Conduct Proactive Patrols Along Gulf Freeway, Underage Individual Rescued
HOUSTON, TX, September 16, 2023 – On Saturday, patrol deputies from Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office carried out an undercover operation addressing prostitution activities around the 8300 block of Gulf Freeway and Bellfort St. The operation aimed to identify and intervene in illicit activities while remaining unnoticed.
During the operation, officials discovered a juvenile involved in sexual exploitation. Law enforcement officers moved swiftly to ensure the individual’s safety, removing her from the precarious situation. Subsequently, the Harris County Human Trafficking Investigations Unit joined the on-site team to further secure the juvenile and commence an in-depth investigation into the matter.
Constable Jerry Garcia stressed the importance of ongoing surveillance and warned potential offenders, often referred to as “Johns,” of the grave consequences of engaging in prostitution and solicitation. Penalties for such offenses are severe, entailing substantial fines, imprisonment, and enduring social stigma. Garcia emphasized the commitment of the local law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to justice, ensuring they face the full force of the law.
The authorities urge individuals involved in prostitution, whether willingly or through coercion, to reach out to local police departments or trustworthy individuals in their communities to seek assistance and find a way out of such life-threatening environments.
The case remains open, with a dedicated team working tirelessly to ensure all involved in exploiting the young individual are apprehended and held accountable for their actions. The community is encouraged to maintain vigilance and prioritize safety in all circumstances.
