Houston Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Identifying Person of Interest in Fatal Shooting
HOUSTON, TEXAS – September 13, 2023 – The Houston Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest connected to the fatal shooting of Dexter Watson, 27, who was discovered lifeless at 7909 Martin Luther King Boulevard around 4:40 a.m. on August 7.
The victim, Dexter Watson, was pronounced deceased at the scene. METRO Police Department officers responded to a bus stop at the aforementioned address and discovered Mr. Watson unresponsive. Paramedics later confirmed his death, attributing it to a gunshot wound, as determined by an autopsy.
On September 6, detectives, along with Mr. Watson’s mother, held a news conference at HPD Headquarters, appealing to the public for any information regarding the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting. Detectives believe the incident occurred shortly after midnight, several hours before Watson’s body was spotted by a passerby.
Surveillance video footage collected by detectives revealed a small group of individuals in the vicinity where Mr. Watson was found. One of these individuals, seen on a bicycle, is the subject of interest in question. Authorities are keen to speak with this male to ascertain if he possesses additional information pertinent to the investigation.
At this time, the person of interest is wanted for questioning and has not been charged.
