Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting on Grassmere Street
HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, Sept. 12, 2023 – Charges have been filed against DaMarcus Williams, 30, following a fatal shooting that occurred at 3701 Grassmere Street around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. Williams has been charged with murder by the 263rd State District Court. A booking photo of Williams has been circulated in conjunction with the news release.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) reported that the identity of the 34-year-old male victim is currently withheld, pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division detectives responded to the scene, where patrol officers had found an unresponsive man on the ground outside the residence. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect, Williams, is the brother of the victim. Williams was detained on-site, questioned, and subsequently charged for his involvement in the shooting incident. Further details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
