Houston Police Pleads for Public Help in Recent Violent Crimes Investigation
HOUSTON, TX, September 12, 2023 – At a recent press conference, Houston Police Department (HPD) authorities and personnel urged the community to assist in the investigation of a series of violent crimes that took place in the early morning of September 9, involving a suspect who remains at large.
Officials reported that the events were initiated around 4:45 a.m. when the suspect entered a store located in the 11000 block of Airline and robbed two employees at gunpoint. The criminal spree continued as the individual forced entry into a nearby residence where he reportedly terrorized the household and sexually assaulted a family member.
The authorities emphasized the urgency of the matter, believing that the suspect has likely perpetrated other crimes and poses an ongoing threat to the community. The suspect has demonstrated a high level of violence, showcasing the potential for future incidents if not apprehended promptly.
HPD is urging both business owners and residents in the Airline and West Road area, especially those with surveillance cameras, to check footage from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on September 9 for any suspicious activity. The police believe the suspect may have targeted other residences in the neighborhood before and after the reported incidents.
During the press conference, the authorities shared the physical description of the suspect, who was caught on camera wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball hat, characterized by a black top and a red bill, and a black Kenneth Cole t-shirt with distinctive large ‘KC’ letters on the left sleeve. The authorities hope these details will aid the public in identifying the suspect, whom they believe might have scouted the area beforehand. He was also described as being of Hispanic and did not speak English throughout the events, only Spanish.
HPD emphasized that witnesses or victims should not worry about their immigration status when reporting information, underscoring the department’s commitment to protecting all community members. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to come forward to help prevent further violent crimes in the area.
As the investigation is ongoing, HPD is relying heavily on tips and leads from the community to help locate the suspect and bring him to justice. The press conference closed with an expression of gratitude towards the robbery detectives working tirelessly on their days off to solve the case.
The officials remained available for questions post the conference, with the collective plea for the community to stand united and vigilant to ensure the safety and security of all its members.
