Suspect Charged in April Fatal Shooting on Nobility Drive

HOUSTON, Texas, September 11, 2023 – Charges have been leveled against 19-year-old Jusiayn Jhoria Jahze Bennett in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Crystal Soto. Bennett faces murder charges in the 209th State District Court.

On April 14, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers were dispatched following a person down call to an apartment complex parking lot at 11503 Nobility Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Soto with multiple gunshot wounds inside her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

While initial investigations could not establish a suspect or motive, ongoing inquiries have implicated three individuals in Soto’s murder, with Bennett identified as one of them. The investigators believe the shooting likely took place around 7 p.m. on April 13. Bennett is currently held in the Fort Bend County Jail on unrelated capital murder charges, alongside the present accusations concerning Soto’s death.

As the case progresses, two other suspects involved remain unidentified and at large.
