Dickinson PD Investigates Shooting of 17-Year-Old; Teen in Serious but Stable Condition
DICKINSON, Texas, September 10, 2023 – A 17-year-old is recovering after being shot in the chest late Saturday night at a Dickinson apartment complex, according to the Dickinson Police Department. The teen is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
The incident came to light after several individuals near Dunbar Middle School reported hearing gunfire around 9:20 PM on September 9, 2023. Dickinson police responded to the calls and conducted a search in the area but initially found no evidence of a shooting.
Later, the authorities received a call from the emergency room staff at UTMB Health’s League City hospital, informing them that a 17-year-old gunshot victim had been brought in by private car.
Following interviews with the victim and other individuals, detectives were able to pinpoint the likely location of the shooting to the Church Village Apartments, located at 2902 Deats Road. A subsequent search of the complex and surrounding streets yielded evidence confirming the shooting had taken place there.
Detective Guadalupe Vasquez noted that, despite the progress in the investigation, the police currently have few details regarding the circumstances of the shooting and no information on the potential shooter.
