Peacock Fire in Stonewall County Now 75% Contained; More Smoke Visible as Temperatures Rise

STONEWALL COUNTY, TX, September 5, 2023 – The Peacock Fire, currently affecting Stonewall County, is now estimated to cover 2,000 acres and is 75% contained. Dozers continue to construct lines to contain the fire, while engine crews are patrolling and mopping up along the perimeter. Although containment efforts are progressing well, an increase in visible smoke has been reported as temperatures continue to rise. The situation remains under active monitoring.
