Galveston County Medical Examiner Confirms Victims of West End House Party Shooting Were Shot in the Back
GALVESTON, Texas, Sept. 5, 2023 – The Galveston County Medical Examiner, led by investigator John Florence, confirmed Tuesday that the two men fatally shot at a Galveston West End house party over the Labor Day weekend were shot in the back. The full autopsy report is pending.
The deceased, identified as Jourdon Concepcion, 20, of Angleton, and Brian Darden, 21, of Lake Jackson, were killed after a fight broke out during the party. Three other attendees were injured in the ensuing chaos, either by falling or being trampled. The suspected shooter remains at large, according to Galveston Police Department.
Emergency services transported three injured individuals from the scene. Briana Little, Communications Manager for the Galveston Area Ambulance Authority, confirmed this was the extent of injuries they attended to. Other partygoers may have sought medical attention independently.
The incident occurred at a rental property located at 4002 Mendocino Drive in the Pointe San Luis subdivision. Galveston County tax records indicate that Extra Mile Properties LLC, based in Montgomery, TX, owns the property. While it was reportedly listed on Airbnb, no such listing has been available since the incident. City ordinances require short-term rentals to have a permit, and it remains unconfirmed whether this property was registered correctly.
Galveston Police Department urges anyone with information to contact their detectives at 409-765-3628. Anonymous tips can also be made by calling Galveston Crime Stoppers at 409-763-8477.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be made available as more information is released.
