Suspect Charged in January Homicide and Arson Case at 4004 Knoxville Street

HOUSTON, Texas, Sept. 1, 2023 — Charges have been filed against Christian Cameron Flowers, 25, in relation to the death of a man and the wounding of a woman that occurred at 4004 Knoxville Street around 12:35 a.m. on January 24. Flowers faces murder charges in the 351st State District Court. The deceased male has been identified as Robert Louis Stephens, 46. A 54-year-old female sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Houston Police Department officers responded to an assault-in-progress call at the mentioned address and found the residence ablaze. Both police officers and Houston Fire Department firefighters ensured the safe exit of all three individuals inside the home.

According to the injured woman, she witnessed Flowers assaulting her brother, Mr. Stephens, with a hammer. Flowers also assaulted her, resulting in minor injuries. Paramedics transported Stephens to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Flowers was arrested at the scene and, on January 26, charged with arson for setting the fire. On August 30, following further investigation, his charge was upgraded to murder. Flowers has been in custody since the January incident.
