Houston Police Investigating Fatal Stabbing at Royal Palms Apartments

(HOUSTON, TX, Aug. 31, 2023) – The Houston Police Department (HPD) is currently investigating the fatal stabbing of a 49-year-old man found at 5601 Royal Palms Street, in the Royal Palms Apartments, at approximately 12:30 a.m. today. The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Patrol officers initially responded to a shooting call at an apartment at the stated address. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim unresponsive and lying on the floor of a bedroom. Houston Fire Department paramedics subsequently confirmed the man was deceased due to a stab wound, not a gunshot as initially reported.

Detectives are seeking to speak to the apartment’s tenant, described only as a black female, who is currently considered a person of interest in this case.
