Richard Paul Dooley Arrested in Liberty County; Thomas Albrecht Curry to Face Warrant; 177 Grams of Suspected Crystal Meth Found in Vehicle
CLEVELAND, LIBERTY COUNTY, TX, August 10, 2023 – A deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on a gold-colored Toyota passenger vehicle at the intersection of US-59 feeder road and Old Coldspring Road in Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Richard Paul Dooley, W/M, DOB: 11/13/1964, and the passenger as Thomas Albrecht Curry, W/M, DOB: 05/06/1966. Actions by the subjects alerted the deputy to potential criminal activity, and verbal consent to search the vehicle was given.
As a result of the search, the deputy located a McDonald’s to-go bag on the floorboard of the backseat. Inside the bag were 6 clear plastic bags containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be “Crystal Meth.”
Upon discovering the narcotics, passenger Thomas Curry began to suffer from a medical emergency and was transported to the hospital by EMS. Dooley was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Felony 1). A warrant will be issued for Curry for the same offense. Dooley was transported to the Liberty County Jail without incident. The suspected narcotics weighed approximately 177 grams.
