Liberty County Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Manufacture/Delivery of Crystal Meth
DAYTON, TX, August 9, 2023 – On Wednesday, a deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on a passenger car around FM-1960 and CR-614, Dayton, Liberty County, Texas. The driver was identified as Dwight Patterson, W/M, DOB: 08/24/1986, and the passenger as Casandra Sue Scurlock, W/F, DOB: 01/14/1983.
Patterson was placed in custody for violating several Texas traffic laws and for not having a valid driver’s license. During the subsequent inventory of the vehicle, a large clear plastic bag and two smaller bags containing a crystal-like substance believed to be “Crystal Meth” were found.
Upon interviewing the driver and passenger, Scurlock advised that the suspected crystal-meth belonged to her, and she intended to sell it in Dayton. Casandra Sue Scurlock was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a First-Degree Felony. The approximate weight of the suspected crystal-meth was 59.59 grams.
