Man Fatally Struck in East Freeway Incident, Investigation Underway

July 26, 2023 – Houston police are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal collision that took place early this morning around 5:15 a.m., on the service road of East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10), at 10200 East Freeway.

The identity of the deceased male, a pedestrian who might have been lying in the roadway when the incident happened, is yet to be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to the initial reports from HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the man was struck by a gray Honda CRV traveling westbound. Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

The female driver of the Honda CRV remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Following questioning, she was released without any charges filed against her at this time.

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver had a green light at the Mercury Drive intersection when the collision occurred. The circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation.
