Lyft is no longer renting cars to riders

In case you missed it, Lyft decided it would be good to rent cars out to riders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, according to the WSJ, Lyft decided that renting cars directly to riders was not in the best financial interest of the company and decided to end the venture, laying off about 60 employees that were part of the Lyft rental division.

As of right now, Lyft Express, the rental program for drivers is not on the cutting block.
