Breaking News: Oklahoma Governor commutes death sentence of Julius Jones

The Governor of Oklahoma – Kevin Stitt issued Executive Order 2021-25 on Thursday, which effectively saves Julius Jones from being executed.

Julius Jones was tried and convicted for the first-degree murder of Paul Howell a businessman back in 1999. While he has avoided death, he will still be imprisoned for life, without the possibility of parole.

Advocates for Julius Jones have pointed out that there was no hard evidence in the original trial of Julius Jones and that he was wrongly convicted.

There is no word on a re-trial at this time.
