Fact Check: Was there a school shooting at Yes Prep Southwest Academy in Houston?

A suspect has been arrested after firing a weapon near the Yes Prep Southwest Academy (4411 Anderson Rd) Friday morning, not inside according to the Citizen app, which relies on Citizens and police scanners.

Police, however, are still checking the school to make sure there are no longer any suspects inside. At this time, there are no reports of injuries or fatalities, but it does sound like there was a shooter inside of the school after a student said they saw blood, and another saw broken windows and heard a principal say “Put the gun down”, according to Erica Simon, a local reporter who actually knows what she is doing.

One student told me she heard screaming and saw blood. Another told me he saw broken windows and heard the principal say “put your gun down.” Waiting to learn the status of staff, and whether or not any of them were hurt.

There is going to be a press conference with the Houston Police Department, which should have more of an update and concrete details of what exactly happened.
